I have had the laptop for 2 weeks now. 100GB's is a lot of space.
512 Ram seems to be more then enough and if you utilize the built in software
called Notebook Maximizer it will adjust the resources to fit your needs. It's
superfast as is. Performs about as fast as my work PC which is a 2.8 Pentium 4
desktop. Seems if you have the Centrino processor you can times the 1.6 by 1.5
to equal the performance of a standard Pentium.
Someone on here mentioned
that the screen dims when on battery, well yes it does but that is fully customizable
in Power Profile. If you allow the screen to dim to about half way you'll get
about 3.5 hours out of the battery, but if youraise it back up to normal mode
on the battery as opposed to plugged in you will only get about 2 hours. Kinda
makes sense, brighter = more power used.
The wireless networking is a trip.
It finds whatever networks are around and asks you which one you want to connect
to. Thats it. Easy as it gets.
The display is wonderful, especially for
video such as DVDs. Great for movies. Like others said, it has so-so speakers
but a great virtual sound program built in to make headphones sound like you are
in amovie theater.
Only downside for me was no 'line out' for audio. It
has a headphone jack but no separate line out. On a previous machine I used the
line out to go to my stereo. You can use the headphone jack for the same thing
but it's on the frontand looks strange. I got over the strange look and it works
great.
I highly recommend this laptop to anyone. Simple to use, lots of
space, does everything well.
And to the guy with who reviewed it and said
it hangs and has blue screens. I believe he'stalking about a defective one or
a different machine with Windows NT not XP, so don't be afraid of this machine
it's wonderful!
