Welcome to Player Piano Review page: As Vonnegut's first novel, Player Piano is definately a book not to miss. It is a comical view of a future dominated by engineers and managers. The common people have completely lost touch with humanity, and feel "useless". In Vonnegut's distopia, the reader is lead through the life Pual Proteus. Pual's father is in fact the one who revolutionized America (Industrail Revolution #3). The society that we are introduced into is elitist and doesn't actually seem like it is impossible. Player Piano never strays too far from reality in its funny yet deadly serious manner. Furthermore, Player Piano questions what is the purpose of life, if machines can do it better and more efficiently. Vonnegut also expreses his inner rebellion with the "Ghost Shirts", a satiric play on the 1890 historical Indians. Ultimately this rebellion may fail, yet it brings awareness to the cause of opressoin, and how humans have to be needed. Player Piano will make you THINK! It is not only the first novel that Vonnegut wrote, but Player Piano is also a great start for any avid reader who desires reading reading the great works of Vonnegut. Buy Player Piano
