of Mintek MDP-1010 Portable DVD Player
I like this DVD player, because
the screen is large, and the price is right. I bought mine for $299 at Amazon,
complete with case, 2 headphones, remote and all the cords you need to travel,
including a car adaptor. I was a little apprehensive about the reliability, but
my little boy had been pushing all the buttons repeatedly, and it is still intact.
Besides, at this price, I could get two for the price of one branded portable
DVD player, and the reliability of those expensive players could also be hit and
miss. Extended warranty is available at a reasonable price however. The warranty
is only for 90 days and makes one wonder, because even Mintek itself does not
seem to have a lot of confidence in their product if they are only guaranteeing
that it will work reliably for only 90 days. The screen is clear and bright, although
the player is a little too noisy. Sound gets drowned by the noise of the car,
if you use the installed speakers. Get an FM modulator or use the headphones.
The controls in the remote are not all available in the player itself. The player
can get very hot and I have the feeling that if I use it for over three hours,
that it will stop working until the temperature of the player returns to normal.
I have not taken it in a long trip so I do not know how it will perform on the
road. It is pretty thin, but the battery can add a hefty weight to it. You have
to take off the battery once it is fully charged, per warning in the manual. Overall
a good buy for the amount of money you pay for it.
