Review of Taking Back Sunday- Where
You Want To Be
Taking Back Sunday- Where You Want To Be: In my opinion,
this is one of the best albums of the year. However, this just
might be because I adore TBS. Their Sophomore album came out
at the end of July and is already one of the highest bought
records this month. Many thought that TBS would break up after
losing guitarist/singer JOHN NOLAN and Bassist SHAUN COOPER.
However, after a short break (a few hours or days), they recruited
two of there very good friends. Breaking Pangea
opened for TBS on their Takeover Tour in Spring 2003; the bands
quickly bonded and stayed good friends. After John and Shaun
left, the remaining band members had a unanimous vote to recruit
Breaking Pangea’s FRED MASCHERINO and MATT RUBANO to the band.
(John and Shaun currently are in their own band named Straylight
Run.) This album differs a minimal amount from TBS’
first album, Tell All Your Friends, which came out in
2002. Fred, now on vocals, adds a harsher, yet more lush, tone
to TBS’ already "heartcore" nature. And rather than dealing
with specific break-up incidents, Where You Want To Be
deals with the general aching in heart break.
